The Visitor Information Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for visitors, providing exceptional customer service and comprehensive information about local attractions, events, accommodations, dining, and transportation. Responsibilities

Provide Information and Assistance:
o Greet and welcome visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
o Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and in person, providing accurate and up-to-date information on local attractions, events, accommodations, dining, transportation, and other visitor-related topics.
o Offer personalized recommendations based on visitor interests and needs.
o Distribute maps, brochures, and other promotional materials.
o Assist visitors with directions and wayfinding.

Customer Service Excellence:
o Maintain a positive and helpful attitude, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
o Resolve visitor concerns and complaints effectively and professionally.
o Anticipate visitor needs and proactively offer assistance.
o Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Knowledge Management:
o Stay informed about local events, attractions, and changes in visitor services.
o Maintain and update information resources, including brochures, maps, and digital databases.
o Contribute to the development of new information materials and resources.
o Accurately record visitor interactions and data for reporting purposes.
• Operational Support:
o Assist with the daily operations of the visitor center, including opening and closing procedures.
o Manage inventory of brochures and promotional materials.
o Process sales of tickets, merchandise, or other visitor services, as needed.
o Assist with special events and programs hosted by the visitor center.
o Maintain the visitor center's mercantile presence, including inventory assessment, as directed.

Collaboration and Communication:
o Work closely with other visitor center staff and volunteers.
o Communicate effectively with local businesses, attractions, and tourism partners.
o Provide feedback to management on visitor trends and needs.

Required Education

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in communications, marketing or business preferred.

Required Experience

Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in customer service, hospitality, or tourism.

Required Skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of local attractions, events, and services.
Proficiency in using computers and software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
