The John H. Lounsbury College of Education at Georgia College & State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position. The successful candidate will teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses in the college and maintain an active record of scholarship and service. The faculty member may also be assigned responsibilities supporting collegewide assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement, including work associated with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). Reassigned time may be provided for these responsibilities based on College needs.

Faculty - Teaching/Instructing -
The successful candidate will teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses offered within the John H. Lounsbury College of Education and fulfill the teaching, scholarship, and service expectations of a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor. The standard teaching load is 4-4 during the fall and spring semesters, with courses offered both on campus and online. Faculty are expected to maintain a regular on-campus presence. Candidates must demonstrate successful teaching experience.
As part of the faculty member's role, the individual may also be assigned responsibilities supporting collegewide assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement. Reassigned time may be provided based on the scope of the assignment and College needs. Responsibilities may include supporting GaPSC and CAEP compliance, reporting, self-studies, accreditation documentation, and site visits.
Faculty - Professional Development -
Faculty are expected to conduct research and develop within the profession. Engaging in scholarly activity that informs classroom instruction is strongly encouraged. Scholarship of teaching and learning is especially valued. Academic achievement may include:
- Publications, including editing and citations
- Peer-reviewed scholarship
- Presentations at professional meetings
- Current work in circulation or in progress
- Grants received or applied for
- Membership and participation in professional organizations
- Other professional service and development activities
Faculty - Service to Institution -
All faculty are expected to support the advancement of the department, college, and university mission by providing service to the institution. Service may be at the department, college, university, community, and disciplinary levels. Duties include service on college-level and university-level committees, advising students regarding career options, and supporting department-level outreach activities. Service may include:
- Committee memberships and offices
- Programs directed and advised
- Participation in special programs or projects
- Other service to the institution
Faculty are expected to work collegially with others in service to the University and to support the advancement of the department, college, and University mission.
Faculty - Public Service -
Engage in service to the institution and provide service in the community and local schools.
Other duties and responsibilities -
Assist with continual program development.
Participate in program, department, college, university, and other committees.
The faculty member may also be assigned responsibilities supporting collegewide assessment , accreditation, and continuous improvement, including work associated with the Georgia professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). Participate in student recruitment and placement activities.
Perform administrative duties as needed.
Educational Requirements
Ph.D. or Ed.D. degree in Education or closely related field
Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials))
Required Experience
Three years teaching PreK-12 learners.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Face-to-face and online course design experience.
Working knowledge of Quality Matters Standards.
Experience with accreditation reporting.
Preferred Experience
Evidence of successful teaching in higher education.
CAEP & GaPSC Experience.
The proposed salary range is $61,192 - $70,000. Salary is based on relevant experience.
Relocation is negotiable.
Rank will be determined by the candidate's qualifications and record of teaching, scholarship, and service. Appointment at the associate level requires a record that meets GCSU and College of Education criteria for that rank.
