Description

The Associate Vice President for Advancement oversees the daily operations of the Office of Advancement and drives the College’s fundraising priorities. This role is responsible for cultivating and securing major and planned gifts, managing donor scholarships and coordinating all fundraising activities, including the Annual Fund, faculty/staff campaign, grants, donor research, and stewardship.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Plan and coordinate, in collaboration with the Senior Vice President for Advancement, all fundraising initiatives for the school across a diverse spectrum of donors and prospects.
  • Expand and strengthen the existing donor base.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with donors and prospective donors through written communications, phone outreach, and personal visits.
  • Organize and manage special fundraising events.Design and write solicitation materials; assist in developing and evaluating operational plans for the Advancement Office alongside with the Senior Vice President for Advancement
  • Recruit, train, and support fundraising volunteers.
  • Implements and maintains annual fund mailing schedules (i.e., end-of-tax-year, end-of-fiscal year, segmented by criteria, etc.).
  • Maintains direct mail analyses for each mailing, to include Cadence mailing
  • Acts as a liaison between the faculty, staff, and Advancement office for fundraising purposes.
  • Compiles information from various sources for the Cadence and news articles.
  • Plans budget for annual fund needs and other fundraising campaigns.
  • Prepares annual giving report for publication.
  • Designs, writes, and publishes a development newsletter.
  • Assists in coordination of special events for the Advancement Office.
  • Designs and implements a Reunion Class giving programs; ensures the coordination of programs each year during Alumni Weekend.
  • Plans and coordinates annual Thank-a-thon.
  • Designs and implements annual Phonathon for Annual Fund solicitations.
  • Researches corporations and foundations for appropriate interests for GMC’s mission and purpose.
  • Compiles pertinent information on corporations, foundations, and persons associated with them.
  • Drafts grants and proposals for approval and submission.
  • Assists GMC Foundation development committee with fundraising efforts.
  • Designs, implements, and maintains a tracking and reward system for proposals and grant submissions.
  • Implementing specific and regular stewardship efforts for special groups (i.e., named/endowed fund donors, alumni donors, Oak Leak Society, Lifetime giving club, etc.).
  • Designs and implements a survey program for faculty and staff to ascertain specific needs of individual departments, and to determine GMC’s economic impact on area business.
  • Represents GMC in a variety of meetings and conferences.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the President or Senior Vice President for Advancement.
  • Provide overall project management support for initiatives – develop timelines, key milestones, projects and communicate frequently with internal/external stakeholders

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 years of front-line fundraising experience
  • Knowledge of fundraising ethics and practices
  • Must have the ability to persuade
  • Understanding of development and alumni relations
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills with attention to detail
  • Knowledge of state school rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows, and Desktop publishing
  • Ability to use donor databases
  • Ability to draft donor proposals and present proposals to prospective donors

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree
  • 5 years of front-line fundraising experience
