Function:

Under direction, assist in the use of flaw detectors, automated ultrasonic equipment, immersion ultrasonic equipment, test aluminum, composite, titanium, and honeycomb bonded assemblies to ensure structural integrity. Assist in the recording of test results to ensure materials conformance to requirements of engineering drawings or Company Standard Specifications.

Duties:

• Under the direct supervision of a level 2 technician, work from operation and work sheets, and oral instructions.
• Adhere to all applicable safety, operational procedures and directives.
• Maintain good housekeeping in area.
• Bring all malfunctions, defects, and damages of equipment, material, and product to the attention of Senior Technician.
• Assist in performing the set-up of ultrasonic equipment, perform required tests, and submit work to Senior Technician.
• May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Knowledge & Educational Requirements

• Job knowledge requires vocational or similar training, including basic shop math to aid in the interpretation and the utilization of data from engineering drawings, manufacturing specifications and procedures.
• Knowledge of shop routines and practices are required.
• Basic knowledge of personal computers, including operating systems and file management is required.
• Some background in physics and algebra is helpful.
• High school diploma or an accredited GED.
